Michael Draghi

Santa Barbara native living in Los Angeles.
My work explores identity, belonging, and the connection between nature and urban landscapes. As a culturally diverse artist based in Los Angeles, I navigate the complexities of cultural identity, often feeling like a stranger in familiar surroundings.
The bird of paradise flower serves as a powerful metaphor for Los Angeles—an immigrant thriving in new soil. My canvases reflect the landscapes that have shaped me, from the golden hills of my childhood to the urban vistas of my current home.
Through vibrant colors and evolving techniques, I convey warmth and the joy of unexpected connections. Embracing a more liberated approach, I invite viewers to engage with the process of creation through visible brushstrokes and textured surfaces.
My work represents an ongoing journey of self-discovery, exploring themes of forgiveness and the paradox of expressing oneself outwardly by journeying inward. Each painting is an invitation to reflect on our experiences of belonging and the beauty that emerges from cultural fusion.
